Methods other than hypnosis for weight loss have an extremely high failure rate because all “diets” rely on willpower, and making a constant stream of decisions intellectually about what you eat, how much you eat, etc. I’ve never met a person who did not have a pretty good idea how to lose weight… it’s not that complicated. KNOWING HOW to lose weight is easy. DOING it, however, is the issue.
So diets are set up to “explain” and “convince” people what they should eat, or come up with lists and outlines and menus when basically, they already know all that.
So companies who market all these elaborate and expensive diet plans are trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist (that you don’t know what healthy foods are and what small portions are). No surprise that doesn’t work.
So what is the problem? EMOTIONS! People over eat, or eat the wrong thing mostly when they get stressed and need to calm down or feel better. So, most people eat to change who they feel… it has nothing to do with hunger, or logic, and if you’re stressed out enough, you won’t give a flip about what’s healthy or not healthy, so both willpower and good decision making go right out the window. For everybody!
Unless your weight loss program deals with the real problem of why people are overweight (wanting to change how you feel when you’re stressed) then it can’t possibly work, because it isn’t addressing the real problem.
Anyone can stay on a diet for a short period of time. And everyone can “follow the rules” about what to eat and when to eat and how much to eat…. etc….. for a while. Then something happens and they give up… abandon that great plan.
The thing that happens is stress of some kind. And stress comes in lots of variations; boredom, anger, fatigue, resentment, depression, anxiety, fear, and many more. If you’re on a “diet” eventually just being on the diet becomes stressful because you’re denying yourself so many things you like, and you have to follow a plan you don’t like, and worse, you still aren’t dealing with the original stressful emotions that made you unconsciously gravitate to food to change how you feel.
And interestingly, even if you’re losing the weight you wanted to lose while you’re on a diet, that success isn’t enough to entice you to stay on the diet, because being on a diet is actually more stressful than losing weight is satisfying. So no wonder people quit after a while and then usually gain more weight than they started with. That’s why diets have a failure rate of well over 90%.
Hypnosis works so well because it addresses the actual cause of overeating: stress. There isn’t anything healthier or more successful at changing how you feel, or going from some kind of stress to calm and relaxed than hypnosis.
The way human beings work is that your state of mind controls a great deal of your thoughts, and of course your thoughts influence a lot of your behaviors and actions. Hypnosis is the skill of learning how to have mastery your emotions and your state of mind, so you can actually control your mood and state of mind.
